Debra Weitala is the founder of EXIT MINISTRIES, Inc. Debra is a singer/songwriter/speaker with
THOUSAND ANGELS PRODUCTIONS. She began going into prisons to do concerts in 1996.

In 1997 she began a PennPal Program in one of the women's prisons. From there she discovered that some of
the women who have been incarcerated for a long time have lost everything they had on the outside.
Apartments and houses were emptied...all personal items taken, lost or destroyed...they simply come out with
the clothes on their back and try to start a new and productive life. She received a letter from a woman that
told her she was released with only a windbreaker, t-shirt, blue jeans and a pair of tennis shoes...this was in the
winter in the northern part of South Dakota. But she added, "I will not let no clothes or money keep me from
loving Jesus."

"Every woman I know has too many clothes. They use their bedroom closets, their hall closets, any closet in
their houses and apartments to store them. And each one of them has a heart that would love to help another
woman with something so basic as shoes or a coat or even a toothbrush. Obviously we purchase new items
too."

Initially Debra thought the idea was great but didn't think she'd have time to put it all together. But when God
has a plan He will give us the time. So in 2000 EXIT MINISTRIES, Inc. became an official non-profit
organization with the 501(c)(3) IRS requirements. EXIT is grateful to recieve financial contributions to
|
help keep the program going.

Debra promotes EXIT at all her concerts, retreats, and speaking engagements. In 2000 she released a CD
called FOR MY FATHER as a project to promote the work of EXIT. This is Debra's fourth CD to date. See
Thousand Angels for more information.
